Building a wine cellar?

With love for the craft and the expertise

to build wine cellars in a safe

and aesthetically pleasing way.

Custom wine cellars

Your wine collection is an important investment in experience and value that should be properly cared for. We can help you design your wine room – regardless of whether the surroundings are large, small, modern, or classic. A wine room can be discreet, or a central part of its surroundings.

Wine rooms can be built almost anywhere. Everything from the traditional one in the basement, to a glass wine cabinet separating the dining room and kitchen, or perhaps you can utilize the storage room in the hallway and install a glass door to create the right effect? There are many great and cool ideas, but remember that the construction itself requires a room that is technically correctly built by skilled craftsmen. This is a prerequisite for the wine cellar to function well.

When we build wine rooms, we use building blocks of specially constructed insulated modules, well-insulated glass profiles and doors to ensure technically sound solutions that last over time, along with some of the best cooling units on the market.

Let us handle the project planning and ensure the best result. Over 20 years, we have built up unique expertise in building wine rooms and use craftsmen who specialize in this field.

Start early. Are you planning a wine room in a new build? For many contractors, the wine room is one of the last things to be put in place. If you contact us early, it's often possible to choose solutions that are both more affordable and better than if we come in at the last minute.

What needs to be in place?

We do custom work. This means that every wine room we build is uniquely adapted to both your space and your needs.

  • Where will the wine room be built and what are the dimensions?
  • What is the access like to where the wine room will be built, considering the size of the building blocks that need to go in there?
  • What opportunities are there for air intake and exhaust, as well as drainage? What are the surrounding rooms? Are there walls facing bathrooms, kitchens, or outdoors?
  • Which shelving systems are desired? We have several excellent systems in stock, but can also source others if you have special requests.
  • Are there aesthetic or practical considerations to be made? Should there be glass surfaces or a glass door?

1)     Data collection

We would like to provide you with a preliminary quote for the cost of building your desired wine room as early as possible. To do this, we first need the length, depth (width), and height of the room or cabinet you wish to build – and we need to know where you envision the glass to be. We would also like to know a little about the surroundings where the wine room will be built, e.g., adjacent rooms. You may also have looked through our online store and decided whether you want one of our shelving systems, a mix, or something entirely different. Finally, we would like you to consider if there are any narrow passages on the way to where the wine room will be built that we should be aware of.

Please start by sending us information through this form, and we'll take it from there.

If you are looking for more information or inspiration, please feel free to download our wine room brochure.

It is absolutely essential for us to start with a clarification of expectations and needs. Every project is completely unique.

2)     Drawings and quotation

Based on the information we receive from you, we will prepare draft 2D drawings and a quotation. This will give you an early impression of what it will cost to build the wine room you desire. Once you have decided on a solution you wish to pursue, we will thoroughly review all measurements and other factors that influence the order. When everything is in place and you are satisfied, we will place the order, and you can simply look forward to it. It takes between 5 and 8 weeks from your order confirmation until the production of the parts is complete.

3)     Site visit if necessary

We will conduct a site visit when necessary. Sometimes it might be to double-check measurements before ordering. Other times it might be earlier in the process because we are unsure which cooling solution to choose. Especially in cases where we are building a cabinet inside another room, a site visit may not be necessary at all.

As a general rule, if we initiate a site visit, you do not pay for it. If you request the site visit, we will invoice you for the cost.

4)     Installation of the wine room

The installation of our wine rooms can range from quite simple to complex, depending on the project. You choose whether to use our craftsmen, who are based in Oslo, if you want to find your own craftsmen, or if you want to assemble the room yourself. For many installations, an electrician will be needed to connect the room to power, and sometimes also a plumber, refrigeration technician, or other craftsmen such as core drillers.

If you choose to use your own craftsmen, we are happy to advise them on an hourly rate.

5)     Service and maintenance

We will follow up with you once a year for filter replacement, but you may need to check the filter more often than this. It's advisable to set up a filter agreement, where you automatically receive a new filter once a year. You can set up a filter agreement here.

The drainage hose, temperature, and humidity are other conditions you should check occasionally until you have learned the functionality of your wine cellar. A clogged filter will lead to loss of warranty and a potentially damaged machine.

A professional partner

Sommeliers with 30 years of experience give us a unique opportunity to assist hotels and restaurants, as well as architects and developers.

We have built hundreds of wine rooms, both for private and commercial clients. We always find a solution to build a wine room for you – but we are at our best when we can be involved from an early stage and together find the most ideal solutions for wine storage. Often, a couple of centimeters' change here can have a significant impact, whether it's on cooling capacity or cost.

For many of Norway's leading hospitality businesses, we are the go-to when they need new wine storage solutions.
